Charities Providing Direct Relief from California Wildfires

The following are 501(c)(3) U.S. charities providing direct aid and support to individuals and families displaced or otherwise impacted by the wildfires currently affecting Northern and Southern California. When recommending a grant, please indicate “California Wildfire Relief” as the purpose of your grant to ensure that the charity correctly designates your gift.

We encourage our donors to research all charities and charitable impact prior to entering a grant recommendation.

 

National:

Catholic Charities USA (EIN 53-0196620)

The disaster response team of Catholic Charities USA is mobilized through the local knowledge and expertise of its agencies throughout the United States. They support direct aid, home repair and rebuilding, health care services, and other long-term recovery efforts.

Center for Disaster Philanthropy (EIN 45-5257937)

The CDP Disaster Recovery Fund was established to provide funds across the entire disaster life cycle, supporting efforts for disaster preparedness through long-term recovery. The Fund acts as a permanent resource to combine efforts and resources for the greatest impact.

Nature Conservancy (EIN 53-0242652)

The Nature Conservancy works with multiple stakeholder groups to reduce the risk of wildfires and increase the resiliency of forests.

 

Statewide:

Baby2Baby (EIN 46-4503539)

Baby2Baby is providing diapers, wipes, blankets, and other basic essentials to families who have lost homes and belongings in the fires across the state.

California Community Foundation (EIN 95-3510055)

The California Community Foundation’s Wildfire Relief Fund supports intermediate and long-term relief and preparedness efforts. Grants have been awarded to organizations supporting those who were displaced, lost housing, and suffering mental and physical health problems. Funds also provide case management and financial assistance for victims, green rebuilding education, and disaster preparedness information.

California Fire Foundation (EIN 68-0118991)

The California Fire Foundation’s programs include emergency support to departments and families of firefighters killed in the line of duty, educational assistance for children of fallen firefighters, and immediate and short-term cash assistance for victims of fire and other natural disasters throughout the state of California.

 

Northern California (Camp Fire):

Caring Choices (EIN 68-0337307)

Caring Choices provides a wide variety of medical services for those living in the Chico area of northern California and serves as an Emergency Volunteer Center for Butte County. Funds will help to ensure volunteers have the necessary supplies and safety equipment upon deployment to affected areas.

North Valley Community Foundation (EIN 68-0161455)

The Camp Fire Evacuation Relief Fund was established at NVCF to support the operations of evacuation centers for those fleeing the Camp Fire. NVCF has also established the Butte County Schools Fire Relief Fund to provide a one-stop location for donors that wish to support schools in the county through open donations or for a specific purpose or school district.

Pedro GTP Relief (EIN 83-1383446)

Pedro GTP Relief is currently providing a variety of supplies for victims of the Camp Fire, including clothing, toiletries, water, and toys.

United Way of Northern California (EIN 94-1251675)

UWNC established the NorCal Disaster Relief Fund to aid victims of the Camp Fire, such as emergency cash assistance to those that have lost homes.

Veterans Resource Centers of America (EIN 94-2699571)

VRC provides a wide range of services for veterans throughout northern California and are working with local authorities in the Camp Fire relief effort.

 

Southern California (Hill and Woolsey Fires):

Los Angeles County Animal Care Foundation (EIN 95-3909782)

Through its Noah’s Legacy fund, the Foundation assists with various needs in disasters. For example, animal safe trailers were purchased and are placed near Red Cross emergency shelters, allowing pets to remain close to their owners in emergency situations. The Foundation also provides training on the safe evacuation and care of horses, in addition to evacuating and sheltering animals during wildfires.

United Way of Greater Los Angeles (EIN 95-2274801)

United Way of Ventura County (EIN 95-1945833)

United Way of Greater Los Angeles and United Way of Ventura County have partnered to establish the Disaster Relief Fund to assist those impacted by the Hill and Woolsey Fires, especially those most economically vulnerable.

Ventura County Community Foundation (EIN 77-0165029)

VCCF has established the Hill Fire/Woolsey Fire Sudden and Urgent Needs Effort Fund as a vehicle to support the immediate needs of the Ventura County area. The ultimate goal of the Fund is to provide a rapid funding response where the traditional funding timeline could result in the loss of critical services.
