The brothers opted to create three individual donor-advised funds with us. Then, they created a fourth fund for their family philanthropy. The brothers also customized succession plans for all of their donor-advised funds to carry out their personal and family legacies.
Donor Challenge
An international corporation wanted to make charitable grants across six continents, so that staff members at their various locations could make gifts to meet local needs. They considered creating an internal private foundation but that involved expense, administrative responsibilities, and the complexity of making international charitable grants.
NPT Solution
The corporation established a donor-advised fund with NPT. From this, they recommend individual grants to meet needs around the world. NPT takes care of all due diligence and compliance issues for the grants. We ensure that each recipient is a legitimate charitable organization, meets IRS and Treasury Department standards and complies with the U.S. Patriot Act’s anti-terrorism regulations.
Donor Challenge
A philanthropist wanted to donate nearly 100 acres of private property to benefit a school. He also wanted to protect his donated land from future real estate development.
NPT Solution
The donor gifted his land into an NPT donor-advised fund. We sold the property to a municipality that preserved it for public use. NPT worked with the school to develop a matching grant program agreement that would help attract new donors.
